Jon Jones reclaimed the UFC‘s light-heavyweight title, which was relinquished by Daniel Cormier on Friday, with a third-round finish of Alexander Gustafsson in the main event of UFC 232 Saturday in Los Angeles, California.

The UFC’s decision to move the event to Los Angeles from Las Vegas due to an abnormality in a Jon Jones drug test was met by criticism a week out from the event.

The NAC would not license Jones — who has been sanctioned for two doping violations in the past — despite UFC’s vice president of athlete health and performance, Jeff Novitzky, claiming there was ‘no violation of the anti-doping program’ in this case.

After taking the fight to the ground in the third round, Jones progressed to side control, moved towards the Swede’s back and pounded him out with a burst of ground and pound.

In his post-fight interview, Jones targeted a third meeting with Daniel Cormier.

‘Daddy’s home, DC. Prove to the fans you’re the champ champ. Come get a taste. I’m here. Get your belt back,’ he told Joe Rogan.

In the co-main event, Amanda Nunes cemented her place as the greatest female fighter in UFC history by becoming the first woman to hold two promotional titles simultaneously with a first-round finish of Cris Cyborg.

Nunes blasted the former featherweight champion out with an overhand right just 51-seconds into the contest, sending her fellow Brazilian crashing to the canvas.

Alexander Volkanovski proved he is well able to compete at the very top of the featherweight division with a decisive second-round win over former title contender, Chad Mendes.

After getting clipped in the second, Volkanovski rallied and unleashed a piston left hand into Mendes’ gut before going upstairs to finish the job with a hook.

Speaking after the win, the Aussie took a shot at divisional champion, Max Holloway.

‘I’m Max Holloway’s worst nightmare,’ he said.

Cat Zingano’s featherweight debut was cut short by a head kick from Megan Anderson. Clinching her first win as a UFC fighter, Anderson’s toe appeared to enter Zingano’s eye, leading the UFC veteran to turn her back, eating a couple of punches before referee Marc Goddard brought stop to the action early in the first round.

Russian bantamweight Petr Yan called for a showdown with John Lineker after a ten-minute domination of Douglas De Silva de Andrade.

Yan progressed to 3-0 with the UFC since his signing last year, underlining his status as one of the best up and coming newcomers on the roster.

Following a steady onslaught of dynamic striking, the Brazilian’s corner called off the bout ahead of the third round.

Finishing out the events Fight Pass prelims portion, British prospect Nathaniel Wood improved to 2-0 under the UFC banner with a third-round rear-naked choke win against Andre Ewell. Following the win, Wood implored the UFC matchmakers to book him on March’ annual London card.
